1000 Hampton Street
The Big Apple originated as a Jewish synagogue and later became one of the premier night clubs in Columbia during the late 1930s.
From its dance floor came the dance craze known as the Big Apple. The interior retains much of its 1930s décor when the building was
the Big Apple Night Club, including star-shaped neon lights and a stained glass skylight in a recessed dome. Hardwood floors and the
original balcony further accentuate the building's interior. Acquired in 1993 by Historic Columbia, the Big Apple now offers a central
venue for a variety of social occasions. Put a bit of history in your next event!
